Orange Mayor praises the community and leaders as Orange emerges from lockdown

“The lockdown has been lifted after an incredible effort by the community, and much behind the scenes work by Sam Farraway MLC,” Cr Kidd said.

“The last hurdle with Health and the Minister in our case was strongly argued by the Deputy Premier and Sam Farraway on our behalf.

“We will have to be vigilant to stop going back in if any infectious cases are identified in the community, so please follow the Health orders on masks, QR coding and limit numbers at social interactions.

Cr Kidd said it has been a long, hard few days getting the decision across the line.

“Do not let anyone spoil it for us.

“I give credit where credit is due, and I know who did the hard work in this case.

“Please know that you can get tested, and not have to stay home till notified of results (unless you have symptoms or have been contacted by Contract tracing) with the surveillance testing.

“Keep getting tested (vaccination does not guarantee you can not get Covid), stay safe, and enjoy family, friends and our wonderful city.

“Thanks to all who have made the effort,” Cr Kidd said.

While the town enjoys the new found freedoms, it doesn’t come without concern after three locations were identified as venues of concern just hours after the announcement was made.

Anyone who attended the following venues is considered a casual contact and must immediately get tested and isolate until returning a negative result.
